What is it:
Dermaplaning is an exfoliation and hair removal technique. A sharp blade is used to gently shave the skin removing all peach fuzz/vellus hair and exfoliate dead skin cells in the process. It is recommended for clients who have a strong lipid barrier and generally healthy skin. I do not recommend it to anyone with active breakouts or highly sensitive skin as the friction may spread bacteria or further irritate sensitivity. Makeup will glide on smoothly and skincare will penetrate more efficiently.
Will my hair grow back thicker and darker?
No, derma planing will not cause hair to grow back thicker or darker because we are not actually removing hair from the root but rather shaving off part of the hair that is out of the follicle. Some clients may notice their hair feels more prominent when it first starts to grow back and that is only because of the contrast of having a smooth hair free face vs. the shorter hair starting to extend past the skin. The hair is cut at an angle so it should not feel like stubble during regrowth.
How long does it last?
Usually the results from dermaplaning last about 2 weeks but everyones hair cycle growth is different.
